Nice camera except for 1 small gripe,
I had a Canon A460 for a few years that took great pictures until one day it bit the dust, so I looked into this camera. So far its been great, however I like taking widescreen shots, and while I was able to do this with the A460 in different resolutions to save filespace, you only have 1 option on the A810, and that is close to 3 MB,so a regular SD card will not hold too many pictures, so I had to get an 8GB SDHC card.
Other than that, its been a great camera.

very light low contrast shots in “auto”,
been using this for about a week now,
all i get out of it is blasted light shots, it has alot of adjustments. but the menuing system takes some getting used to
if there is any light from windows , or background light it washed out everything, in auto, and IS. might be sending this back
unless i find the majic bullet , currently disappointing .

Cannot be used out of the box!,
The camera works fine, once you have bought a Memory card for it. Honestly, why package a camera with two AA batteries which a customer is likely to have at home instead of the memory card they need to make it work? And why do the pictures default to 3456 x 4608? I realize some pictures need people that huge, but most people are just taking snapshots. A default of half that would be more than enough and would certainly save them room on whatever cheapo memory card they are likely to find until they can get to an electronics store.
